Appears to be thin lead rolled into a tapered end.
Eye hole at narrow end.
Fishing sinker?

I've pulled a half dozen mid 1700s coins and a shoe buckle in the same 75 yds square.
I'd say that the average of the date of the coins you pull from the same location gives you the date. Dated coins are useful to archaeologists in identifying other material in a site.
I agree with nothing else to go by but the coins found near, that would be the best guess .. I'm wondering if it might be an old clock weight .. mid 1700 fishing was done a bit different than hook and sinker.
You can't date it stylistically & although lead oxides whiter over time, its still not going to narrow it down much because of the variations of ground conditions. You can guess it's 100+
