Looking for info on error dimes. 65-2012. At least if I get skunked on the silver I might still find something of value

This isn't an error, but look for the 1996-W dime if you are date checking, those were made in West Point, NY as a "commemorative" of the 50th annaversary for the FDR dime. nobody has ever found one if i recall correctly on here, but why not look if you are date checking?

Thats a coincidence, i found 2 2009 p's and 1 2009 d's now in 2x cardboard (low mintage) also found 2 1969 p (low mintage)

look for 1969 P (low mintage)
2009 P & D (Low mintage)
1982 no p dime *rare
Die cracks in various years
off center dimes

etc...

I am still trying to figure out why you would keep the 69s? There really is no premium on them except for the ones with the proof reverse.

If the mintages are low they could pull a premium some day. A roll is only 5$ not bank breaking by any means. All rare coins were in circulation at some point in time

Cherry Pickers Guide. There are proof examples I didn't list. I rarely search errors. I have found clipped coins, but they usually are obvious.

1968, 1970, 1975, 1983 proof dimes made without "S" mintmarks were made in error. as were some circulation -strike 1982 dimes(Us Coins 2013 Guide) Each is worth 2.00

I understand about proofs without the mintmark, but a common 1969p would hold no premium unless in uncirculated condition.

69p is of the lowest minted clad dimes. 1 for ever 3000 people on the planet

1969 is listed under Flames of torch, deep valleys in flame.

Exactly! Somehow the reverse proof dies from were used on some of the business strikes in 1969. Much like the wide "am" cent variety. No one's sure how many there are so it is wise to save them if found. But I wouldn't keep all 69s, just uncirulated, which are themselves the actual rare commodity.

And the 1970 doubled-die reverse is valued at $25 in EF-40. (345+ million 1970 Roosevelt dimes minted). The Roosevelt dime series does have a few clad errors to be searched!
