Found this Saturday in my yard (along with the usual lincoln pennies and doo dads).
Was pretty covered in caked on dirt and until cleaned no idea what it was.
Anyone have any idea as to what era this is from or what it came off of?

As for the time period, 1940's through the 1950's and into the 1960's. Roy Rogers, the"King of the Cowboys" made a bunch of western movies, was on the radio and had a television show. Every normal kid had at least one Roy Rogers toy, be it a cap gun and holster set, clothing, or a statue of Roy on his intrepid steed Trigger. i suspect, but can't verify, that the six-shooter and holster came of one of the many figurine models that were produced.
Didn't know about Roy Rogers??? What's this world coming to?

I can't see any attachment points on it but I would bet that this came off of the outside of a holster for a toy gun. Good luck getting an ID.

It's a neat relic and in great condition :icon_sunny: :icon_thumright: Haven't been able to find an ID, however I think it will be possible to find one with the 'Roy Rogers' collector interest. It appears a pin was soldered to back of piece.

my guess is a fridge magnet

That a good suggestion. If it's a solder point on back how would that work with magnet idea? Would the entire piece become magnetic?

The piece is brass and non magnetic. It would be difficult to attach magnet and ensure flush contact.

Maybe it's part of a bolo tie pendant. :dontknow:

The bolo tie idea may on the right track.

Just received this back from the Roy Rogers Museum in Branson, MO.:

The Roy Rogers item that you found was the main/front part of a tie slide from the 1950's.

After finding out what this is I realized I had found the back piece as well. Thank goodness I hadn't thrown it in the trash!!
