I've just got a new lens for my camera so I was scratching though an old biscut tin full of old coins that my father gave me. I must admit that up until recently I was only interested in old Australian coins (which isn't that old ;D ) and hadn't paid much attention to a lot of the other coins.

After reading this forum and seeing all the great coins found in the US and Europe I had a closer look at the tin. Most of the coins are from the 1900's but there is a scattering of older ones. The bad news is that the older coins which are in good condition have all been defaced in some way making them worthless.

Thought I'd share a few pics:

Too Funny!! :D :D :D

I like your collection. Holes or not, they're still pretty cool!

Some of the "defacing" looks like chop marks to me. Some collectors seek those out and will pay right along book values for them.

That shielded nickel might get you a few bucks even in that condition. As well as the 18th centrury coin.
If youve got any other interesting ones please post pics.

That 18th c. coin appears to be some sort of locally issued coin from Achen, Germany. I am not much into world coins, but some of these town-issued pieces can fetch nice price tags. It might take some research from you, and any potential buyer might be from Deutschland. Achen is in Bavaria--west of Munich.

Thanks for the comment - after a quick websearch there's a couple advertise around the $15-20 mark albeint in a bit better condition. This appears to be the oldest coin in my collection and I had no idea it was even there until I was scrounging around in the tin.

Very nice coins, in any condition... If only they could talk....
That's one of the other things I like about this hobby, after a few years, I'll be able to go back through all my finds, and rediscover 'em all over again... ;D
Good luck, & Happy hunting~

Great coins anyway mate and always something you will have from your father. :)

Thanks for the comments
