Run Marmots!!!

Fantastic day up at a ski resort here today, about fourteen dollars in clad and one small silver ring.Everything was going alright until we heard this weird sound.My cousin was fifty yards from me and a marmot was challenging him to a face off.Well you know i had to laugh because 50 yards is a safe distance right.Wrong other marmots started coming out of the resort from underneath.Believe it or not two old farts can do the 200yard dash in about 30 seconds to the car. I had no clue to what these were, had to do a google search. I think they are cute. I said the same thing about prairie dogs when I was TDY to CO with the Air Force. There were signs all over the base stating that the prairie dog area was off limits.

I remember seeing Marmots on the mountians of the Olympic Peninsula. About the size of a beaver. Never remember them being nasty, but then I've been run off a dam by a beaver. Any animal can be trouble if it's defending its home.

I think they are protected as well, so you would be in trouble even if you won. LOL. Retreat was definitely the better part of valor up there today.

I one ran down one in the garden and killed it with a single kick. When I turned around the neighbor lady was gathering her kids in and wouldn't speak to me for months. She thought I had killed a cat.

Nowadays I'm too lazy (and slow) and let my .223 do the running down. Different neighbors, but they still think I'm a little crazy.

Go figure.
