After posting pics of that last odd dime, I put it back with the rest of that recovery and felt something very strange about this one when I picked it up. Looks like someone rolled it somehow to flatten the rim which caused it to get thicker and sharper, that was noticeable to the touch. Then looking at photos I spotted some differences in the numbers and letters. That circled "E" looks deformed. It a little like someone started to make a ring, but it looks machined. Maybe somebody cashed in grandpa's collection of oddities.

Sometimes you will find coins like that and they can be caused by rolling around in a clothes dryer…. My dad used to be a locksmith years ago and also managed an apartment building, many times he would find dimes that look identical to that within the compartment of the dryer or within the drum itself. I don't know why, but it seems dimes were changed more than any other coin, probably due to size and thickness… Just my thoughts, but it can create a neat looking coin with a rim reminiscent of a railroad track. 👍🏼

Good possibility.
