I use the Beach Brute II, it is a very good scoop. I do recommend you add the SS lip sold through RTG...

I've used most of them but think the Sunspot Stealth is the Last one You'll ever buy and it should be your first. The Golden Olde used one. They come it 2 sizes and have wood handles that float upright in the water. I don't have any wrist troubles with the Stealth because of bent handles. For the dry sand it is best to use a screen type sifter one.

Here is our new style built better aluminum 6" water scoop. It is a lightweight shallow water and beach scoop. The aluminum bucket has 5/8" diameter holes punched into the sides and the back of the scoop. The bucket of the sand scoop is 6 " in diameter by 11" long. The aluminum 1-1/4" diameter handle is welded to the top of at a 20 degree so you can use your foot on the back of this scoop to push it into the sand. There is a T-top reinforced aluminum bar to give this scoop durability. On the bottom of the scoop we added 1/2" heavy duty welded screen with a 1/4" protective curved bar for a foot plate. The screen will help you sift the wet sand easier. The handle is 40" long with an over length of 48" long. The handle has an rubber hand grip for comfort. We have a lot of great designs to choose from!
The only thing missing is the metal that they're made from to make them the best.
That metal is titanium.
Stainless is stronger than aluminum... but to make it light, you must use a lighter gauge.
This gives up the added strength for weight.
Aluminum is lighter than stainless in the same volume, but it's not as strong as stainless.
To give it more strength, you have to use a heavier gauge. This gives up the advantage of its light weight.
Titanium doesn't have the same problems. It has the highest strength to weight of any metal.
I guess, "someday" we may see a titanium scoop being sold? But, it won't be cheap!
But, the handle does float upright in seawater!
I've already had several scoop makers talk with me about using titanium...
and the "talk" always ends with "price"!

I only know of two long handle titanium scoops that's been made. And, good Lord willing,
they will be used on the third beach since they were made next month, Amelia Island, Florida. Like before, someone will want to talk and notice my scoop. And I'll see the surprise on their face one more time... "Damn that's light, what is it!?"...
It's 6-4 titanium.

Price be damned, I want a Titanium scoop with a wood handle. After we spend near a thousand dollars for a good detector we should also have the best light weight scoop. Rent out the ole lady and it a couple years you should have enough for a scoop.

We are only here on Earth a short time, why not make the best of it.

we've discussed it with Number9 specifications scoop from titanium, stainless steel, aluminum on an American forum ...., can find.
but I was banned on that site, as it were, for breaking the rules ....

imho
1) do not make sense to scoop out of titanium if it weighs more than its counterpart made of stainless steel .....
2) I can make a scoop of titanium (ASTM B 348 Grade 1or Grade 2) cost 400usd.
3) The price of titanium scoop other brands require heat treatment can not be cheaper 600usd.
4) this piece production to order.

It will be 45% lighter in weight...

about 50% stronger...

more corrosion resistant than stainless in saltwater...

and about 4 times the price!

we have been testing a new version, a proto type, made from plane steel for testing only. final version will be somewaht smaller in certain areas.......maybe, all depends on how the testing turns out............. i have tested and now have sent it to ft. lauderdale for more testing there.....few pics......top is new style, has longer bill and new adjustable style handle bracket..........F Y I only.
