Hello, ive only just got back on treasure net and if anyone could help me it would be brilliants, we found these in a scottish field any idea Or age?? It has a flat back x
Welcome back to TNET! I am sorry but I have no idea as to what they are or their age. Something to show size comparison, the weight of each and pics of both side will likely help. The piece on the left might be melted aluminum but there are other possibilities and the one on the right resembles Lead that has gotten a dull patina but could be Silver. I would imagine folks will ask for a density tests and hardness tests which will basically be a scratch tests to test the hardness and the color the specimens.
Please post a photo of the object's other side (which you say is flat). Also, tell us its size.
If it is non-magnetic, and it came out of the ground with no corrosion, it might be silver, or some other "white-metal" that doesn't corrode in the ground, such as White Tombac.
For now... being only able to judge by the photos of one side, it looks like a "puddle" of melted metal.
You say it is heavy for its size, so it is not melted Aluminum/Aluminium... which we diggers frquently find where a hot fire has occurred and an aluminum can got melted.
