Scovill MFG co Waterbury button eagle on front??

I dont have a pic yet but I found a button with an old looking eagle facing the right with a sheil on its chest.
no letters on the shield its talons look like they are holding 3 arrows eagle has a long neck, kind of like the old 1850s coins
back says scovill MFG Co Waterbury I have found 1866 and 1867 coins in this same yard

anybody know what kind of button I have?

is it this one? http://www.civilwarbuttons.com/uc1033.JPG if so it's a overcoat size eagle button; heavily gilted: "*Scovill Mf'g Co*/Waterbury" 23mm Union button I think still new to this stuff, really wasn't into this kinda stuff til I started to detect......

Not an expert actually a very new beginner but I'm pretty sure it was Civil war button (union) .... Now I wish it was that eazy to Id the button I have in my avatar... I know alot of people have been trying to help me id it an I still have no luck with a Id.....

I keep on looking at my button and the pic you provided creeper71 and my 10X loop magnefing glass says the 2 buttons are the same!

I didnt pay much attention in history class but did people in OHIO participate in the civil war?
Why would there be a coat button in Northwest OHIO

Congrats on your civil war button. I dig a lot of them here in Tennessee and Virginia. And yes you will find them in several of the northern states. I have even heard of some Confederate stuff found as well. One guy in Ohio found a CS buckle probably a souvenier or from a POW. Civil War relic hunting is a whole different type of hunting and is very addictive. I rarely hunt coins anymore. Hope you find more.
