like to get the sea hunter mark II would like some information... to eliminate certain trash does this have any affect on good targets
such as nickels and rings and thin gold chains. and what about iron...how does Discrete and Standard Elimination work.
does each elimination mode have a differant sweep speed your input would be nice thanks. will be used in salt water (San diego beachs)
does using more discrimination mean lose of depth,

This and all machines lose minimal depth when you use discrimination.

Any disc on a PI limits depth by as much as 50% or more. Actually this means all VLF detectors also lose depth with disc over all metal mode.

Forget finding thin gold chains with any Pulse detector. Only the Tiger Shark seems capable to find these gold chains over other detectors and I have tried most of them. But these chains have no real weight. I know some dude is gonna dispute this saying they found a chain with a Bounty Hunter, but did it see the chain or the clasp or pendant? Describing the differences in the two mode would take to long here. Suggest you read a report.

Personally I liked the Infinium LS and the Tesoro Sand Shark which you can hardly ever find for sale used.

i just got the SHM2 a few months ago and here is what i have learned:
1. using discrimination costs u depth
2. the discriminator circuit works iffy at best
3. the discriminator does absolutely nothing at getting rid of iron which is the biggest culpret
4. it will get rid of pull tabs but at the beach you WANT to dig tabs
5. the machine is a deep digger but don't believe the hype about it's discriminator
6. the factory shaft ABSOLUTELY SUCKS...plan on spending another $100-$150 on an aftermarket
7. If u are serious about getting one i got mine from stooptroop and was very pleased with ALL aspects of the transaction....send him an email it will be well worth your while

Chains in the ground that are laid out in a basically striaght line are nearly impossible to pick up.

Like Sandmans says, you will more likely hit on the round clasp or a pendant if there is one because it is a large enough target for the detector signal to lock on.

The other possibility is that the gold chain is balled up and therefore creating a bigger target. But that doesn't seem to happen very often.

I use the Seahunter and the discriminate knob will certainly knock out good and bad targets.I run it with zero discrimination all the time. This way I am not wondering what was left behind. It may slow me down digging up trash but since I get good depth and find good and bad targets is just something that I live with. I am also doing a service for all the others that use the swimming area by cleaning up the hooks, nail and other things that could hurt the kids. Some are thankfull enough to leave things behind for me to find. :laughing7:It is a PI when I'm in the water I dig it all.
