Season 5

Frankly this is just the opinion of an untrained eye. The object is obviously very old and formed in to an old style Christian cross. Gary is spot on with his assessment and im sure that will be proven in future episodes...

Ya reckon...

cross.webp

Can you show me a picture (another similar cross picture) that has this as an old style Christian cross?

It could be anything....

They only need the archaeologist to approve the excavation of possible man-made structures...
That is not what they said in the earlier episode. They said he was required if they dig.

Maybe you should add a little optimism to your life... Or maybe you're just very content digging up garbage with your little Garrett 250 :laughing9:. Whatever floats your boat bro
No need to get snippy , zippy .. My boat floats fine and I don't need to overcompensate with an equipment list a mile long. I don't live in a place where the tides and ocean storms bring new junk up out of the sea everyday to be stumbled on.
I've been on 2 archeological digs of indigenous peoples of Ohio whose remains carbon dated to 2,800 years old. We excavated and found stone tools, spear heads decorated clay pottery and the remains of 2 permanent shelters. Everything my team found is on display at the Ohio Historical society in Columbus Ohio ....
I remain happy prospecting for gold in streams across America and happily digging up garbage with my Garrett 250. Because anyone whose swung a detector knows ....

Yea let me go ahead and show you something. Let me show you that it is not as simple as searching Google Images to find a medieval style cross pendant that is going to exactly match the style you see here. If you use your mental capacity, maybe, you would be able to come to the conclusion that something like this is actually quite rare. You have to look at the "crudeness" as Gary put it. The hole is a square and not a circle, which makes sense when you're looking at something from a time when the drill had yet to be invented. The fact that its made of pure lead. The fact that its not symmetrically perfect. The shape etc... This is something where true experience and knowledge really begin to show itself.

You obviously have an emotional attachment to the show and are not thinking clearly.

Lead cross found in beach rocks that has not been deformed from the pounding ocean, its just not real.

As for your ridiculous claim of this piece of lead predating the drill..... Bow drill have been in use for 10,000 plus years for starting fires and working any manner of material.

You have no validity to your claims, just emotion, I suggest you step back and examine the empirical evidence and adjust your assessments using your "mental capacity".

I didn't see it this week, did they find all the world's lost treasures?

maybe someday you could start a thread showing us all the cool stuff you find with your fancy tools

Really... I would love them to find treasure... I just have seen NO EVIDENCE that treasure exists on OI. If I was trying to put a hole in a piece of lead for fishing or something I would just hammer a nail into it. This would explain the falt end and the square hole (nail head). Maybe the piece of lead will turn out to be something significant but at the moment all they have shown is a piece of lead that is cross shaped. You are just guessing... Why do you feel the need to criticize other people 'mental capacity' because they are questioning the claim this is an ancient Christian/Templar artifact when zero proof has been offered.

As to Gary he also is the one who claimed the 'railway spike' was an Spanish gallon ship nail. No proof has ever been offered to support this and the nail/spike has not been mentioned again.

Gary is entitled to his opinion I want to see some more evidence before reaching a conclusion. As I said that piece of lead could be anything....

enochsea7 it is pretty poor forum etiquette to just go back and delete all your posts so the conversations do not make sense. I feel sorry for you that because some disagree with your views you feel the need to behave in that way. Maybe you would be better advised to stay away from forums...

But please do come back and say "I told you so!" when they unearth the Holy Grail on the season finale. Sincerely hope they find something other than evidence of previous searches. Take it easy.

According to the blog http://oakislandfromtheothersideofthecauseway.com/
The drilling equipment moved out late October , and divers came in on Nov 1st.....
There are photos of wood leaving the island also in this blog .... wonder if they ever dug up smiths cove again ?

These folks bought the museum from Fred Nolan about 20 years ago.

Some day they’re going to find Celtic crosses with Chinese inscriptions forming a hooked X, and they’re they’re going to dig at the intersection. 1.61803399 km down, they’re going to find an Atlantean ufo containing a Viking ship, the ark of the covenant, Bigfoot, Elvis, Shakespeare’s original manuscripts, and Captain Kidd’s treasure. And we’re going to look very, very stupid when they do.
