It's not shown if the 'metal detector' was calibrated or turned on by the backup diver - which would have been easy to test if he had detected the metal sides of the caisson.

I'm not an experienced diver, but I would rate the assignment as difficult to obtain anything useful from a tactile-only dive.

Well I mean this isn't a one time thing. Last year he kept getting metal readings at the bottom of GAL-1 until Chatterton checked and said nothing was down there. Also, every time the team wants him to bring up a sample of of the hard substance for testing, he grabs the sediment next to him and brings it up to show that the effort was there. He's done this twice now.

I’m just sick of Gary.. of all the guys on there he makes me the maddest. Remember every time you cross the causeway you could make history. What these guys don’t realize is Gary is blowing smoke up their hind ends. Any island let alone any piece of property that ever had any amount of foot traffic on it at one point in time is going to have something on it. Case in point I asked my grandma one time if I could metal detect her yard and she said they never had any money to lose and she highly doubted anything would be out there besides maybe some trash. Well let me tell you I found more coins in that yard than any other I’ve ever detected. Just like when I venture out and look for civil war relics deep in the woods. Nobody would ever guess there was anything there but lo and behold I’ve made some pretty significant finds simply because I took a chance and simply went where I thought they might have been. For him to put it in peoples heads that to find anything on oak island must mean it ties to something historically significant is rubbish. People lived there so it’s not unbelievable they find what they do. Doesn’t mean it was from some long lost buried treasure people. When fact becomes fact and fiction is portrayed as fact that’s when I start losing interest very quickly

I still can't believe how disappointing last night's episode was. With each season finale there was at least something to look forward to the following year, since the money pit area hadn't been fully explored yet (at least not by the Laginas). So what are they exactly planning for next year? My worry is that the sensationalism level will be turned up to the 10th degree to make up for the lack of evidence. Dan Blankenship will likely get banished next year for telling the truth, and be replaced by his uninformed, gullible son full time. Marty's somewhat pessimistic approach (at least prior to this Season) will be replaced by Rick's Templar obsession and fawning over every piece of junk found. The lab testing PHD professionals at the university will also be replaced by Gary's jeweler friend. At this point I think that the team has a better shot of finding missing artifacts in Jack's beard than on the island itself.

No, I saw the exact same clip. It was in the season 5 trailor. It is pretty much the only reason I tuned in this season. And as I feared, it was BS.

I think Marty's statement about the money pit being real came sometime mid season when they found the 2 human bone fragments in test hole C-8. Of course, a few episodes later nothing was found in the larger shaft. The show runners knew that when they did the original clip, but still kept it in there to get people to watch. I'm not falling for that again.

They kept putting so much weight on the bones. None ever questioned whether they were recovered from un-dug virgin soil or from soil that had been re-dug. In my mind those two bones fragments could've been from graves (6' deep) that got bulldozed into the hole. If they really were such a big break through wouldn't any investigator worth his salt been asking that question? Wouldn't the archaeologist be asking that questions instead of making really vague replies? I think the next seasons going to be The Curse of Ricks Vintage Lumber Yard. Are they going to drop the show and start a Oak Island comic book series?

The season ends with another fluff filled, meaningless episode with even Dan Blankenship admitting doubt....so much for the big reveal that was promised......The show then leads into the laginas next hoax series, curse of confederate gold.

I know some folks here were counting on the laginas to actually show something that was even vaguely close to being construed as evidence of something, but as usual, the show continues to prove that nothing of significance ever existed on hoax island....

This morning my Dish recorder had recorded a 10 minute mini show .
Showing Marty and a so called producer named Matty ....Marty shows him a wooden shaft about 15' X 15' stockade style ....with a latter sticking out of the mud looked like it was under maybe 12' of dirt and was excavated ....Marty claims Org. Searcher

This is the 10 minute preview of next week's "Digging deeper". I like the shows with Matty because there's no endless repetition and they can talk about things that are interesting facts but don't qualify for interesting video.

Anything and everything ever found on hoax island could have also been found on all coastal areas ranging from Canada to South America. Nothing unique......

The areas around Nova Scotia have plenty of granite...just look at the number of granite quarry's.............as with all other "finds" on hoax island, nothing significant with finding rocks in a hole....
