Got out today to go beat on strangers doors. Took awhile to find someone home, but the first answer was a yes. This yard had obviously been detecting before. No high tones at all. So I decided to look around the house for an oddball spot that another detectorist would probably avoid. Luckily I did, I found a nice 1876 Seated Dime at about 7" along the side of the house. The next house I stopped at I got another yes. This yard was pretty good as well. I started getting wheats right off the bat and snagged the 1909 Barber dime near the road. That put me at 7 silvers for 2012 My neck started hurting and I decided I was about to leave but stuck it out for another couple of rows. The second from last row I did I snagged one of the best conditioned Largies I've seen dug. A nice 1851 to cap the day. Happy Hunting!!

Congrats on a very nice LC!
How did you clean it up?
I found an 1831 near Alliance a couple of years ago, but it has a pretty solid cake of dirt that just won't come off easily.
There appears to be a nice patina under the dirt, too.
I tried soaking it in olive oil for the better part of a year, then a few freeze/thaw cycles, but the crusted dirt is still there, hiding some good detail. Any suggestions on cleaning are appreciated!

Thanks!
-Scott

If it has just the hard packed dirt on it, A few cycles of boiling peroxide should loosen it up enough to take it off with a toothbrush. Take some dish soap and a toothbrush to it after each cycle, and it should take it off. Hope it works for you. ;D
