I FINALLY got out. Though the conditions were less than ideal. My new 11" Pro coil that I just got today felt awfully heavy with all the snow sticking to it. But, it seemed to work pretty well. I found several targets in a small area I had pounded just last fall including an 1875 Seated Dime....

I'm pretty sure March 10 is the latest start of a season for me in at least 20 years !!!!

Well, the wait was well worth it.

I hope the rest of season goes as well as today.

Thanks for all the replies....

It was definitely a nice way to start off my year. Hopefully, it is a sign of things to come

The only negative part of my first hunt is that I somehow managed to get poison ivy. I barely survived this sub-arctic winter, how the heck could poison ivy survive? My wife says it was probably in the gloves I wore from last year. But, the gloves got soaked in about 5 minutes and I took them off and spent the rest of the time without gloves. So, not sure how I got it. But, with the Seated dime, I would say it was worth it (as long as it doesn't spread to unmentionable areas of my body). It would take finding a gold coin to have to endure that unpleasant thought !!!

Dare I say that I think frozen ground won't be an issue again until at least December !!!!!!

I hope you all get out this weekend and find something great !!!! For me it won't be until Monday....

Nice job Brian! The snow is finally starting to melt here, probably be another couple weeks before the ground thaws.................hopefully sooner!

I can't imagine poison Ivy surrving through this winter. :icon_scratch:
