Got out today braved the heat and hit our usually spot where we have found 1700s to early 1900s goodies. The serpent buckle has my attention any info would be great. Also found a what I think is fake 18k gold* ring and great looking 1917 merc and a 1911 v nickel. Also a cool US medical fork of sorts and a shoe club button I’m guessing 5AF545EA-7DDB-4DC0-96B0-6DA75F32F0D9.webp18011DF1-1976-4D63-B59B-3EF7D3BDF99A.webp1DCB9059-A7F3-4497-A96F-E2AC24DD688D.webp8F7135A7-1646-4126-BAFA-10165BAB3629.webp9B1A56F7-26F5-4F65-87D9-3C295DD73C6C.webpD2A45D4E-8E27-4611-BDC0-7BE80448703B.webp4CAB6463-9D5B-46B1-9212-FCAE0FAC53F7.webp71968FF7-1425-4594-9E18-5B70C9C6F256.webp2BD2D2FE-7A6D-45AC-BDED-3E0E94D610E0.webp1D719B11-44FC-41AF-8051-06AD5149F0EB.webp

Very nice buckle, I think they were popular before and after the war, very cool!

Not really lol I’m kind of dead

They were made at least as early as the Revolution, yours appears 19th century. Here's the key: The big loop, if the eye ring was soldered as part of the loop, in line, that is meaning it is in line with the rest, it is Civil War or earlier. If the loop was attached to the outside, it is after the Civil War.

Nice find, I have found a few, but they are few and far in between. It would be easier if I had a pic, but I don't!

Here's a couple pix of a civil war snake buckle

Kmatch, very nice find and Save of the Snake Buckle and the other finds as well. Congrat's.

Super nice buckle from my chair. Congrats on a awesome outing.

Those pics are great. The eyelet loop is directly in line with the big belt loop.

Smokey so what’s that mean I’m kind of slow and delirious from the heat

Very Nice!!! Congrats!!!

Great hunt! Whenever I see a Merc dime or other silver from the era I think to myself, why does a country that once had gorgeous coins now mint rubbish that looks like arcade tokens?

Ring may be real , looks to have been in a fire with other stuff burned on too it , see if it will clean up and have it checked

I snapped it in half doesn’t look real 54BBF532-85B8-4F72-8E24-1199C89474E0.webp

Most of that Snake Buckle Type is circa WWI period.

Well, nowadays, if they took ten cents worth of silver and made it into a coin today it would be the size of the head of a pin. Gary

Nice finds. Great save on the buckle. Congrats
