A bit of snow on the ground & felt like -7 all day, so our coldest hunt this Winter. But I thought it was great to be able to walk on the frozen ground. Conditions last time meant sinking if standing still! It also meant we could stay out an extra hour without feeling beat up. (or should I say the normal 5+ hrs)
With getting 4 hammered last outing we were prepared for a blank silver day & that's what we had right up until Cru'dad got the Saxon coin on the last run of the day!

The Potato Field (just less than 3 hours):
Jetton
17th C Spur Buckle
14th C Buckle
bits..

Sewage Site (just over 2 hours):
Broken 18th C Horse Harness Mount
Jetton
17th C Button
Tudor Clothes Hook
RARE - Cut Half Penny of Edward the Confessor 1048-50 :headbang: (Might not look great but a late Saxon Penny this early in the year is good, we only target 3!) Compete one like this:

UPDATE (from leading expert):
''An interesting coin, which I have recorded.
The reverse seems to read +OGCE[R?][N or H?][ ], which I have not been able to match to a known moneyer. If anything occurs to me I shall let you know.''

Welcome back.:occasion14:

It's strange really, I'm a technophob with no mobile phone, no social media, but a Tnet account.:laughing7:

There was one thing I promised when I first joined:
I would post ALL my hunts & ALL my keepers, because I wanted a true picture of our reality. Not just the highlights.
As our targeting of sites have improved along with our machinery & techniques, you are all on the journey with me, no bars hold.

Thanks for the support.

As an optimist, things can only get better.

Sweet half penny! Congrats to Cru'dad :occasion14:

Often its such a welcomed sight to just to be viewing through your finds on such a regular basis.
Once in a while one of them I can spark a memory up that brings back the thrill of finding a similar/same.
Thanks again for your unselfish sharing and caring.

They are a super hard period to get. We put this target group in the same category as Norman & Viking Pennies. Any of which for many Detectorist might be a find of a lifetime.

I feel that all the buttons, bits and pieces that we find on these sites all tell the story of its history.
So, whenever you're fortunate enough to recover a Cut Half Penny of Edward the Confessor 1048-50, that's a real bonus Cru.

Hope you and your Dad have another good year, stay safe my friend.

Dave

The coin sounds like it might be an unknown Moneyer or at least an unknown spelling of a Moneyer!

Yeap, we have stayed safe the whole time thanks & now Cru'dad has had his Vac. we are 1 step closer to getting back to normal.
Don't want to get too political but if we were still in the EU we would be about 10 million Vacs behind where we are now. An indication we made the right move.
