You know I haven't found any really weird coins before, but have any of you found the WOW or weird factor. I don't mean a dime in a penny roll I mean a gold coin in a quarter roll. Pictures are appreciated. I have found a semi weird thing... a chrome plated half. Can't wait to hear yours.

I just pulled a 1918 France 50 centimes from a String dime roll. It is 0.835 Ag with an ASW of 0.0691 oz. It is also 0.2 mm larger than our Roosies, 18.1 mm vs. 17.9 mm. This is my first foreign silver from a dime roll (other than Canadian).

when I found my first magicians half in July or Aug. I thought that was kind of strange because I had never seen one before. Then I found a double sided reverse half in Sept which may be a magicians coin too but this one doesn't open up.

I've found my share of odd looking foreign coins too but maybe the most unique were two 5 shillings coins from the Rep. of Somalia that I found in a string (I think) nickel roll. They are very light weight - maybe made of aluminum - and have a pic of an elephant on one side.

I really should have taken a picture of it. In a $500 bag of halves, I found about a dozen white cable ties, two pens, a pen cap, some metal, and a chewing gum wrapper. This was all in one bag. I think they were either using it as a storage/garbage bag or else trying to discourage me from ordering more halves. I have also gotten several guitar picks, though none of those in a while. Can't figure out how those get in the bag.

Could we here more about this ancient coin?
I don't know if this would count, a while ago I bought a bag of world coins and I found a lot of old european coins. The best coin was a 1715 Laird De France. It is probably a colonial coin from quebec, it is worth over $25, that payed for more than the whole bag.

Found a gold plated nickel, and two pennies in the same nickel roll. Also what I think is a chrome plated nickel but its hard to tell. VERY shiny.
