But that ended today!!! Worked until noon today and had a couple hours to kill, so what did I do?? Absolutely nothing until I went to pick my daughter up at school!! I was pretty lazy and just enjoyed the quiet until then. I love picking her up and then spending an hour with her until her mom gets home. Anyways, around 5 PM I got the urge to get out and decided to go sidewalk hunting tonight, hoping for a piece of silver and a few wheats.

It started slowly, not even finding a coin for the first 15 minutes and dug a very nice memorial cent  and then started hitting some clad coins!! I finally had a nice deep signal(meaning 5 inches) and pulled a memorial cent, then hit three quarter signals in a row, I dug the memorial cent around 5 inches and the three quarters all at about four inches. I hit another quarter signal and dug my plug, thinking I had my fourth quarter in a row, but when I saw silver, then looking closer seeing that Eagle and the size I knew what I had, my first ever Seated Half Dollar(1859-O). I have a Bust Half, Seated Half Dimes, Quarters, and Dimes, BUT not the coin. I am pumped and didn't even look at a date on the next coin I dug(Buffalo Nickel). Took a long time coming, but the rush I had made it well worth the wait!!!

Awsome Dig!! Great condition! thanks for sharing!
give us rookies some serious motivation. YOU metioned side walk digging Is that like in town between the paved road and the cement sidewalk? I knew a guy that found a civel war buckle in those small spots?

Thats where I found it and was truly surprised to find such a nice coin there!! Many have never been hunted and just waiting for someone to rescue them. Just be careful to try to be as careful as you can and if asked to leave because someone doesn't like it, and even tho you are allowed(in most places), remember there are many, many streets to cover and not let it bother you!

Wow, beautiful coin! Excellent! Monty

Time to re-arrange your wish list  Nice looking coin, that Celtic Gold I found took over 20 years & was wish list no.1. I was jumping & shouting so much the Farmers wife went in to get the farmer. What a great day & I'm sure your remember this one for many years!

Cru, next to finding my 1830 Bust Half with my dad hunting with me, this had me dancing and shouting even more than when I found the $5 gold coin. I even had an older couple across the street laughing at my dance!! Celtic gold is on my desired list and not wish. My #1 wish now is a 20 Cent piece #2 is a $20 gold piece, both hard finds, but you never know!! I truly would have loved to have seen the look on the farmers wife running to find her husband with you dancing and shouting in the field!!

That is a terrific coin. A nice Seated Liberty half with excellent toning and detail such as yours there is a whole other level of coinshooting.

You are completely out of control!

I have an 1859 Seated half that I found not too long ago. Yours shows me what mine would have looked like had it circulated for about fifty or sixty years less.
You know, a Seated Half was #1 on my wish list for well over 20 years and I would have taken a worn, damaged Seared Half and still yelled, danced and felt the same rush! Do you still have a pic of your Seated Half?

Nice find, Jack. I didn't know ex-Marines knew how to dig a hole ;D One beautiful coin. I'd be proud of that one :icon_sunny:

Former Marines know how to dig holes, ex-Marines can't wipe their butts!! I have three special coins I keep all by themselves, a 1830 Bust Half I found with my father, a 1779 2 Reale that was over 10 inches deep and a "Ike" Dollar, this will go with those three coins. I found a gold coin(1880 $5) which I sold to my girlfriends mom, didn't make the "Special Coin" box!! The next coin I see going with those would be a 20 cent piece or any of Cru's Celtic coins!!
