SHELL Instant Winner, One Dollar Coin / Token

I was hunting some old farm land yesterday and hit a signal which I thought for sure was a quarter but out popped this guy. I must say that at first glance in the dirt, I really thought I had found a gold coin.. probably my biggest burn to date.

These were handed out at SHELL service stations in the late 1960's with gas purchase. There are several coins featuring presidents which are pretty common on auction sites but not many of these around. I think most people turned them in for the $$$.

I would've been so excited too, thinking it was a gold coin lol. Too bad. Still a really cool find though.

very cool token, cleaned up nice too. I remember gas stations giving various things to get you to come buy their gas etc. I fully understand the almost "gold coin" turning into a token. I thought I had a big silver and was wiping the wet mud off of it and hoping to see a bust, well, it had a bust alright, a very busty bust... heads you win, tails you lose. still you found a very cool token.

Found one too

I found this one last summer and had to research what it was about. Unfortunately mine is "just" a president, you have an "instant winner."

I found one of the president tokens and thought it was a silver coin until I pulled it out of the hole hahaha I know the feeling. Nice find!

"Heads you win" and "Tails you lose"...funny stuff DL, I found that exact token last year, of all places, at the soccer field! Thought it was big silver coming out of the hole...bummer.

I probably would have cursed for 10 minutes after realizing it was not gold. Then would have been happy at finding a token from my childhood.

Thats a neat token. I have found many of the Shell Presidential tokens, but never an instant winner.
