...or maybe a little less than half!
1839 Large Cent that has been clipped in half. (I'm guessing they did this from time to time if something cost less than a penny?)
What a shame...I think it is in great shape for a 179 year old penny!
I went out today for a couple of hours and popped this up from around 7"-8" inches down...LOADS of trash in this particular field.
I was using Gary's "Sifter" program, with a few tweaks. (Thanks Gary!)
0-50 notched, 91 Sens, 2 points negative ground balance, 0 discrimination, TX power 2
Thanks for looking and Happy Hunting to all! :metaldetector:

just cool. brad

That's really neat.

That is just cool.....

I've heard of clipping silver from back in the day but this is the first copper I've seen. Yes too bad it is not complete. Still a neat find though.

Thanks folks! I'm just happy that I found the half that has the date on it!
I plan on hitting this area again, so who knows...maybe the other half?!?
HH to all :icon_thumleft:

right on!! I like you got the dated half!!

Very nice find! IMHO the coin has more character with less coin. :occasion14:

I agree Professor! Awesome find with the date.

Great job on an amazing find!

I also wanted to thank you for posting your modified Sifter program. I used it earlier today and pulled 5 wheats from a very heavily hunted field close to where I live.

I couldn't run -2 GB due to the inconsistent ground conditions I was experiencing, instead I ran in "tracking" and notched out the entire ground bar in "expert" which quieted things down tremendously w/o any loss of depth. (Thanks V for posting about that after your Andy S. class)

Thank you again for posting this amazing find!
