Ok, maybe one more post tonight. And it's a longer one.

August 25 - August 31 Coin Hunting Results

A pretty decent cap to August in my opinion. Another bundle of Canadians, another silly number of proofs, and my third silver half ever to wrap it all up.
This also marks the "end" of the 'proof boxes' (at least as of the time of writing this.) I haven't seen a single nickel proof since this box, so perhaps that's done with for now. Finds have remained good since August, however.

Additional side note; Although the 1966 and 1967 nickels are marked as proofs here, they actually are not. The mint didn't make proofs either of those years, as far as I can tell. They just seemed "suspiciously shiny", almost proof-like, so I had just assumed they were. As it turns out, they're just oddly good condition late-60's nickels. And no, neither of them is full steps (although the '66 would have been, if not for one annoying line cutting right through all the steps.) If anybody more experienced might have an idea of general grade for these two, I'd love to hear from you.

Hey Dozer! I keep them, currently. They're just sitting in a crate at the moment. There isn't a "crazy" number of them quite yet, so haven't felt the need to do anything more specific with them yet. I'm young, not in any rush.
I'll probably find somebody interested in buying them, eventually. If they eventually start turning into a problem though, I'll dump them.. doesn't hurt anything to keep them for now though.

As a side note, I'd need to clean many of them to actually be able to cash them at my bank (it's a small bank), and I don't have any decent way to clean large numbers of coins currently. So it would be fairly hard to get rid of them at face value even if I wanted to. Which is the same reason I still have all my metal-detected clad.

Best thing to do with detected clad coins is find a free coin counter and dump them in. No need to clean the coins this way.

Went a bit heavy on penny boxes this week, hunting for more of the copper dump responsible for box #173's record. A few above-average boxes, but #173's record still stands. Some other good finds regardless. Bit of a wheat penny shortage for a few boxes too. Man I wish I had a ryedale, takes quite a while to hand sort this many.
