I wish I had more time ,there was a lot of recent erosion from the strong winds driving the waves into the bank I found a few decent points and some nice tools.

Found this quartz piece it has some really nice flaking on both sides I can’t tell if it was possibly a paddle drill that snapped off or maybe was just a perforator.

Looks like winter took a pause in Maryland. That’s a good group of points of different types and a variety of lithic material.

It’s been terribly cold up here. I got out a little and found a couple items.
I’ll try to post them over the weekend.

That black triangle is a sweetie. It could be called a Beekman Triangle here.
That grey speckled Rhyolite Point, I think would be a Morrow Mountain variety there. It would likely be typed as a Stark or some variety of Stark here.

I really like the way you’ve sequenced the photos. It give us the feel of seeing it for the first time right along with you. I try to capture that when I’m on the hunt too.

The quartzite lithics are good study pieces. Maybe one is a broken point or tool?

The stemmed quartz point might be typed as a Neville Variant here. Too bad that tip is gone. That’s high quality material.

The smaller, darker grey corner (or side) notched Point with the slightly expanded stem is not a type that has similarities with anything I’m familiar with here, unless it’s a rough example of a stemmed Brewerton.

Do you think it could be in the (Regional) Vernon family?

Great winter hunt!

Great winter hunt!

Thanks , yeah we have really had a mild winter this year , I don’t find a ton of points at this location but they are usually in great condition probably due to recently falling out of the banks.
I was thinking Morrow Mountian type 2 on the rhyolite but could possibly be a Piscataway I am rite in the center of the distribution area for them.
The stemmed / side notch when I first picked it up I thought Lamoka . I don’t think it would be Vernon due to the rounded base I think Vernons all have a straight base. I have found several really nice Adena’s at this spot which would place them in same time frame.
That quartz point was a heart breaker I didn’t get a pic of that in situ there was just the smallest spot showing thru the sand but like you said that’s a high quality quartz anytime I see it I check it out I was actually surprised it was broke they are some tough points but may have broke on impact. The other quartz piece in last pic is definitely a broken knife or large scraper that is the bottom. Thanks for the interest and I hope you get some warm weather so you can get out there too!

Yes and no I have never found one actually sticking out of the banks but I’m pretty sure they all have fallen out recently than after a few high tides wash out the dirt I find them anywhere from 20 feet away from bank all the way to the base. I check the banks thoroughly but in all my years of hunting I have never actually found a point sticking out of a bank ..... those guys on YouTube kill me there’s a few ditches and creeks they walk and points are sticking out everywhere.

"Way To Go! " I'd say you some really nice ones. We are having some warmer weather here also. Hopefully I can get out and do some looking.

If that is what you find in a limited time, you really have a great place to hunt! Good luck out there!
