Well, I hit my favorite farm spot at lunch today, and "yes" I found silver. It's not a great find, but I had some help. I remember reading posts & tips on TN about how moles will burrow a tunnel under the ground and move an item just enough so that a signal can be picked up by a detector. Well, that's EXACTLY what happened to me today. I was working an area in the back yard that I've hit over and over before. I started waving my mighty Tesoro over a mole tunnel. At the very end of his tunnel I got a good signal. I thought for sure it would be more iron, but instead, it was my lucky day. It was a 1945D Quarter this time!!!
Thank you Mr. Mole!
My other finds were a toy "10" play money piece, a 1940's aluminum clothes pin, and a blue toy wheel.
I also dug up a large iron wheel hub from an old buggy or cart. I'll post that picture later.
Thanks for looking.

P.S. Mirage (Bob), I told you I was going to try to redeem myself after yesterday's hubcap post. Can I stay on TN now? ;D

Excellent post. I must admit after reading your post the other day I was thinking to myself..."How do you dig a freakin' hubcap?" :D :D :D That was a funny post.

Thanks Silver. It takes a lot of years of training to find and dig a hubcap. ;D I discriminated out "cars" and "rims", and went right for the hubcaps only. ;D

A nice find MM---I need to get a couple of moles for my yard. ;D

Dang, I thought you were going to get the big BOOT! :D ;D :D I guess we have to put up with you for a while again. ;) ;D Good think you used your brain. That's the way to do it. ;D

That is very sweet MM. Especially from the Farm. You are on your way to Metal Detecting Greatness.

Terrific quarter Doug, I never thought of checking mole tunnels. It certainly is logical when you think about it. I have lots of moles in my yard right now, I wonder......

Holy crap that was funny!!!!!!!! :D :D :D :D :D

Great post as always... I like the stories as much as the pictures. We have Richardson Ground Squirls here that tunnel and leave huge mounds at the tunnel entrances, sometimes holes 10 - 12 inches across and mounds three or four feet across - always a great place to detect! Those little buggers move a lot of material, and sometimes goodies.

Thanks everyone. At first I was a little leery about driving my digger into the end of that tunnel. I thought "what if the mole is at the end of this tunnel, still doing HIS digging. ;D Thank God the quarter popped out instead of HIM. ;)
Have a great w/end.

Miner, this just shows the fantastic discrimination of a Tesoro machine! :D
