Silver Coins, A Ring & I Meet Joe G
Started this weekend’s hunt at a park we all settled on and had the opportunity to hunt with Joe G. LI Tom was also with us. Joe is a great person to hunt with and I’ll thank you once again for lending me that upper shaft so that I can hunt while I send mine out for the Sunray adaption. Moving on, we were all there by eight in the morning and we all kept pretty busy. Unfortunately, we were in for a s&#tshocker. It appears that either there were no targets (Unlikely), or the park was picked pretty clean (Very Likely) Joe G caught wind of that after spotting traces of dug holes. I myself suck at noticing these. In the end, the targets were far and few in between, and no talent in the world was going to do any better. I did manage to find one silver ring. Tom reckons the lad was a cheapo and should’ve gotten her a gold ring.
Day:2 Sunday I was determined to bring a little silver to the table and my mind was set on a park Tom, Joe and I have been hitting. I got off to a late start and the threat of a real downpour was there. Remembering where both I and Tom had found some silver, I decided to swing along and right next to bushes that were growing right alongside that little stretch. Bumping and hitting crap on the end of every swing, I finally get a pretty good dime signal and dig out a merc. A few feet away I get another good dime signal and dig out a wheat. Another few feet away I get a quarter signal and dig again, this time with rose thorns protecting the prize. With about three sweaters on me, I simply push my body against them to protect my face and resume to dig out a silver Washigton quarter. With that, I took a little liberty to explore other areas, and managed about three wheats out of that time investment.
Not wanting to get caught in rain far from home, I decided to hunt a location closer to home where I had actually gotten skunked twice last week and managed another two coins within 20 minutes of each other. The barber came first at about 4” and the merc followed soon after. The barber sounded nothing like a dime, silver or clad. It had more of a penny sound. The only reason I had it sitting in my cigarette pack is because I was down to dig for a freakin penny just to see if it’s a memorial or wheat as a way to judge what may still be in the ground. Photos enclosed.
