The owner of the convenient store does keep an eye out for us for silver, she's Awesome!!
Went in for a pack of smokes and she pulls it out of the cash register. Says I waited for you to come in all day yesterday, do you want it? She's already snagged us a few halves, a couple quarters and a silver dime.
I think we might owe her a dinner for this one.

I wonder how these bullion coins end up in such strange places. Just last year I found a 1991 Silver Eagle someone had just thrown in the garbage. Pains me to wonder how much treasure is lost in some landfill right now.
That coin has a beautiful patina by the way  Amazing score!

I think somebody was hard up for cash. At this same convenient store a couple days earlier someone spent a red seal $5.00 and then the next day a couple silver certificates.
Nothing new has showed up since the Silver Eagle.

I’ve used about all modern ones but right now: CTX 3030, White’s MXT Pro, XP Deus, Vaquero, White’s TRX

It is worth a whole lot more than a dollar. Amazing that someone spent $1.00 face value silver bullion coin because they don't circulate like "normal coins" someone had to have purchased it for probably $5-6 at the time it was new.

Very nice find, I would be 110% thrilled with that, in fact I do a happy dance if a teller has a single silver dime!

I have a similar story,

Back in September I went metal detecting and stepped on a Yellow Jacket's nest that was inside of a rotten log. The whole hive chased me and I got a sting to the leg. I stopped at the supermarket and saw a cashier was loading a self serve station and there was a silver quarter. She said she had some "silver dollars" and asked if I would want them? According to her, a few months ago some guy was annoyed because the Coinstar would not accept them and they have had them for a while, the cashiers were annoyed counting them every day and were about ready to throw them out a window. She has also set aside some 40% silver Kennedy halves for me too.

Last year a coworker sold me a Morgan and a Peace dollar that he had for several years. He was working at a fast food restaurant and some little old guy came in and paid for a soda and fries with them. I guess it does happen. If I had a convenience store worker that was as good to me as she is to you, you better believe I'd take her to dinner.
