I'll try to keep this short tonite...

Izzy and I found our first silver ring.

WOO-HOO!!! Got off at 4 and picked the "IZ" up from the sitter's. She said she wanted to "go find treasure" - she didn't have to ask me twice. We didn't have a whole lot of time (school night), so we stayed close and walked over to the park by our home. I haven't really spent too much time there with the 'tector but I believe I will be frequenting this park quite heavily in the very near future. I had the 4" coil on thy "Hunter of Bounty" thinking I'd just mess around by the playground area - I should have brought the 8" - just messing around while walking to the tot lot (across a mid-sized field of grass) I was swinging rather indiscriminately. Picked up a solid quarter signal and figured I might as well dig (all the while I got Izzy flipping out next to me, ready to bore a hole in the ground with her bare hands :D). Popped the plug out and right there staring at us was the edge of something silver (this is the first time I had this happen as far as having it right there when the plug came out). I'm thinking it's a quarter or dime (and was fairly excited as was Iz) - she reached in and pulled out this pretty little sterling ring with what looks to be a tiny piece of amethyst set in it!!! While it's not colonial "wilver", it's got the tiny little 925 stamp - good enough for me! We were both totally psyched about it to say the least. Decided to cover a small area of this field and ended up with some junque, thirty eight cents in clad, the ring and a strange eyeball find - a metal "tag" (?) that says, "Chinese Laundry" on it :icon_scratch:. I'll be heading back in the morning with the 8 inch coil to hammer this area. Hopefully, there's more to find...

Anyway, plenty of pics to peruse and thanks for stopping by!

Thanks "CD"... :laughing3: :occasion14:

"Uncle Nick", TDNY and 49'er - Many thanks! Yeah, not three seconds after walking in the front door, Iz was all over me to clean it - then she had to call both her aunts and her uncle to tell them about her "treasure"...

... good stuff!

I've created a monster... :icon_pirat:

I do hope that Izzy has a great big treasure chest to put all those goodies in! :icon_queen:

Awesome day of hunting, DD! Congrats!!! Nana

What a great hunt. It's not always what you find but how you find it and with whom. :icon_sunny: I remember some of the first hunts with my son. Some of the finds we found (probably worth less than $3) -you would have thought we found a Fugio Cent or whatever they are. ;D I tell you the truth - I doubt we would get as excited now even if we found a spanish cob. ::)

Bob - thanks, and your right about finding stuff with your kids. As much as I enjoy the solitude of "hunting" and finding things on my own, it's just so much more enjoyable with my daughter. The look on her face is priceless - wouldn't trade it for the world...

Would those be Colonial style pulltabs.

Thanks Nana! She sure does - and good luck trying to get to them - you have to go through an interrogation from her just to see the "treasure"... ;D

Hey Hey, thats what Im talking about "brutha"   You are already diggin the silver quite frequently. Alot of others took MUCH longer to acquire their first silver finds and you have already found with this ring, at least two pieces of silver. Thats very good. Your learning quick! Great job bud

Looks like the Colonial Pull Tab I found...way to gooo my friend up in the "Northern" country...

Congrats, DD-777, on your very first silver ring. You won't forget it. I see you found an amethyst one, just like I did today!! Very cool!

That's great that you are showing your daughter this great hobby!! I was introduced to detecting back in 4th grade, when my teacher detected the school fields at lunch recess. I was the only kid to follow him around the whole schoolyard about 2-3 times a week.

Cool ring. Super cool daughter.

Dude... you're going to have to get that girl her own detector before too long. She's HOOKED! <grin> But then, when you do, you'll have do dig all your own targets yourself! She'll be too busy detecting and digging her own targets.

Happy Hunting!
