Also for a beautiful pewter button but I lost it on the way out:( hopefully I'll find it when I return. Had it wrapped in a white Kleenex. And there's quite a bit of snow. Maybe in a few weeks I'll spot it easier. If I can find the route I left... 2 mile walk through rugged terrain

Yes great finds ...the buckle is a sweet show piece, well worth the walk. Do u have any idea of the site history?

Now that's a nice buckle

Those are some very high class finds. Those buckles are both outstanding examples, fernald1 if that is your real name!

Awesome buckles, congratulations!

That is a dream buckle!!:thumbsup::thumbsup: I would be going absolutely nuts if I dug that buckle. That thing is also an amazing find because it is complete. I really like the buttons and other buckle too! Looks like an amazing hunt!!!

Gorgeous silver buckle! :notworthy: You may want to stabilize the iron portion pretty soon or it will fall apart.

Love that buckle, nice finds. You should take BrianW and TheFog to that site and we can help you identify stuff.

You sure manage some really nice buckle there Cong . I found plated one and tin one but not silver. Cong.

Can't tell from the picture, but are you sure its silver because I've never seen a Silver Buckle frame with an iron guts?

That is a beautiful buckle! Some great period finds there.

I've never seen one in person, but have seen a couple listed in Whiteheads Buckle book. Towards the back I believe. Personally I've only found tinned steel shoe buckles with steel chapes

To the OP - amazing buckle. Most certainly preserve that chape to prevent deterioration. I'm amazed that steel lasted so well.
