[td]After having searched through $7,110 worth of dimes, I figured I'd get a Whitman Coin book (1946-1964 Dimes). I'm going to make it my goal to fill it by the end of the year! To the right is my "Most Wanted" List to help keep track of my progress. I want all of my finds to be from CRHing, so I won't be purchasing any of them. Here goes nothing! [/td]

You do some crazy volume! What kind of half dollar numbers did you put up in 2019?

Other than dimes, my 2019 numbers were:

Cents: $61.50 - 112 Wheat
Nickels: $198.00 - 2 War
Quarters: $644.00 - 1 'W' mint (War in the Pacific)
Halves: $2678.50 - 14 40%ers, 1 1964

No coin counters in my area take halves, so I have to reroll. That gets to be a lot with the Most Wanted FDR hunt volume.

Sleepy: I know you're still pulling dime silvers, but lately your SKUNK boxes have been on a rise. Since you keep such good detailed records, what was your percentage of Skunk boxes vs total boxes for the year 2019? Interesting to find out, I'd say about 60%.

This calculation contains physically sealed by the coin courier boxes only - no box equivalents such as $250 MWR. Also, to be clear, a skunk for these purposes is defined as a box not containing a silver coin in it.

For 2019, it was at worst 187/407 boxes contained silver and at best 190/407. I say AT WORST because I tried to throw a few back into the coin counter, but thankfully my coin counter rejects silver. There's really no telling which boxes those three came out of.

To phrase it the way you've requested, 220/407 boxes were skunks. At best, 217/407...so skunk percentage for 2019 was documented at 54.1%, but could have been as low as 53.3%.

Here's hoping! I've only got three months left in this state before the military sends me to my next duty station. It's going to be back to the normal day shift, non-bank friendly hours there. I'm really hoping for a bit of a CRHing miracle between now and the beginning of April. Keep pushing on the Nickel front!

Thanks for posting your summary stats. I noticed that you had very few lifetime CAN silver dimes and then saw more posted for 2019. Is there a typo for the lifetime 80% CAN (it should be higher, eh?).

Nice Canadian tone...yes, that '2' should be a '12'. Musta tapped the '1' digit to light.

I'm in the Air Force, Dozer. I'm on a special duty right now where about 35% of my work is accomplished during bank hours and the rest is just about all swing shift work. The hours have made CRHing possible whereas normally I would not have time to do mass volume. I've already done a couple deployments to the middle east...glad to be stateside at the moment.

Man, today was quite the opposite of yesterday as we achieved zero FDR finds. The coin counter was the real source of excitement for the day. First, someone left a handful of goodies in the reject tray. Then, I took a quick glance in the waste basket to find a 101 year old coin... It was one I didn't have in my wheat book, so no shame! The key is to not make eye contact with anyone after reaching in and then head directly for the door. That's 84 of 140 in the wheat set.

Had to combine my Thursday and Friday routes today. The boxes started out strong before flatlining rather abruptly. The brown and green rolls ended up saving the day, however. In particular, 8 of those 9 finds came from $80 in CWRs that I got from one of my favorite CWR banks...one roll even contained 3 silvers! Don't worry, I bought them all - I always do. Got the privilege of pulling a 1949 today. Finding a '49 or '55 of ANY kind is quite the thrill. I soo thought I found the '55D today! I looked at the mint mark and saw it was a 'D', and flipped it to look at the date and saw 1955...then blinked and saw 1953! The 3's and 5's on dimes look really similar... Next time! Anyway, finding that 1949 got me thinking about how difficult it is to pull a CAT 1 FDR. Below is my all-time Category 1 finds list with associated quantities:

After four straight weeks of 15+ FDRs, the Most Wanted hunt saw just 5 FDRs last week to start the new year, so this week's 31 silver Roosies was a welcomed sight. Kinda strange the way it came about, as I only found silver from my Tuesday/Thursday banks and got completely skunked from my Wednesday/Friday banks. Scored a Top 5 All-Time week regardless of the way it occurred. As far as the hunt is concerned, after filling the last several holes on the front side of their respective projections, it appears we'll be on the backside of Find #46's projection. Any dime now...

We've been saying it for weeks now: mid-January! Last week's big haul got us there a little faster in terms of FDRs needed, but mid-January was the time regardless. Man, this 1951S looks pretty good for coming out of a box. Split bands on top, but not on bottom; ALTHOUGH, it can be tough to find split bands on the bottom on many MS coins in the set! Okay, moving forward the odds only get steeper. My model is now projecting an average of 243 FDRs to get Most Wanted Find #47, which equates to somewhere around Cinco de Mayo! Obviously, I don't have that kinda time with me moving the first week of April, so we're gonna need quite a bit of luck to pull this off over the next 11.5 weeks. Well, here goes nothing. 46 down...2 to go!

Kind of a weak Thursday. One of my most reliable banks told me they forgot to plan for me today and couldn't provide me any dimes.... A few highlights though:
1) Found a new bank a few weeks back that told me today they get a lot of CWRs because so many businesses bring them in and they want to get rid of them.
2) My current all-star CWR bank gave me $80 in CWRs today. Last week $80 yielded 8 FDRs. Today yielded 2 FDRs that were sitting right next to each other in a single roll!
3) I find a star note every week or two. Today's was the first "rare" one I've found. TBD on a value. I'll have to figure it out somehow.
