Got out for about an hour today. Temperatures were over 100 degrees and the dirt is as hard as concrete. I managed to salvage a 1940 wheat and a fountain pen tip. I assumed the fountain pen tip was old until I cleaned it and saw "China" stamped on the back. Can it still have some age to it?

Digging in concrete is better than not digging at all:). Thanks for looking.

I feel your pain up here in Oklahoma! It certainly is a good day when you get to dig!

From the looks of that nib, it could have some age to it. It doesn't look to be very modern.

I am just using dinamite and a 2 inch augger to dig down here by Austin it loosens the dirt up really good now if I can just figure out how to relocate my targets after the blast I got it made. LOLOL. Oh and thats a very nice quill tip you found there, it might have some age to it?!?

I'm afraid to knock on any doors to hunt. It's impossible to cut a clean plug and replace it presentably in these conditions. Looks like I will Spock to vacant lots for the summer. Lots of trash to sort through but there are some good finds to be had as well. What type of areas are you guys/gals hunting when the ground is like this?

tot lots LOL

In a nice dark shady spot, with some good mowed St. Augustine grass to hold the moisture in the ground. Love yards with that in it. My grandmas house has this, as does alot of old houses round my area. Perfect for this time of the year.

Oh man, and it isnt getting any better either...cool finds
