Sweet!! I forgot about my Kenwood power supply! 23 amps for use 25 surge draw..
now my wonder is should I run a fuse in-line between pump and the power supply?
I’ll need to remember to set a timer for 30 min when I fire it up.

Hopefully the picture posts. Here is a test to see how much flow you are getting from your pump.

To test the real water flow thru a sluice, put a five gallon bucket at the discharge and time how long to fill it.

It keeps up just fine.

Awesome, Thanks. I was looking at running PVC between two tubs and using some sort of bulkhead flange, but this looks a lot easier and the tubs will remain stackable.

I used 2" PVC .. If you have a higher GPH pump you might want to use 2 1/2" or add an extra syphon..
It is definitely nice to maintain the stickability of the tubs.
I may step up the tub size so everything will fit inside them... cube and all. I used these because I had them already and for the home setup they work just fine but to take things to the field bigger tube would be nice to be able to carry everything in one container.

The power supply is fused, my ham radio gear MOST but a few are fused inline. Some on one positive and some on both.
Of all my electronics stuff only had one power supply fail blew a capacitor with age.
I guess a online on the + end wouldn’t hurt. I just have to stop off and pick one up.
Maybe 15 amp wedge fuse. Waterproof holder.
But yes I really debated it, I think the motor would fry before the power supply

Seeing this video really makes me think I need a better stand set up other than the cot frame lol!!
The temp tub is so tall as well if going to have to go taller.

I would go at least 2.5” or even 3”. I run a 2600 gph pump and 2” is definitely not enough. I still owe you some pics.

Any head pressure significantly reduces the flow of a bilge. They actually allow water to come back out past the impeller.

It's hard to find a usable flow graph. But, I suspect bilges lose about 50 gal an hour per foot of head or more.

I have a 2000 gph SeaFlo pump that says 1460 gph or so at 3ft head. Those little impeller pumps lose a crap ton per foot of head.

Added fused and extra wires funny thing it seems wired with 16 gauge wire. I added 12 gauge.
Now once I figure out a stand or stand like set up I’m almost ready to run.

Good call lol!! So it ran 2 min blew a fuse on ground side
15amp fuse.. 2 more min run time and next fuse..
I’ve contacted the seller of the pump.
Good gauge wire, power runs not to long. Fresh water. I see no logical reason it should be blowing a fuse other than defective pump.. ugh

Whats a bilge like 4 amps drawn?

Battery charger to battery... leads from bilge to clips negative stays attached positive is my on/off lead

wires never get hot same pump for years.

I realize bigger pumps draw more but?


if its running and pumping what it should I wouldn't thing the pump was broken.

My battery charger is the type that wont turn on unless it is hooked to a battery.

Though I can trick it after it starts and leave the positive leads connected.. detach from the positve side of the battery running positive lead from charger to pump and it will keep running.


your fuse should be no more than 150 % of amp draw.

If your not supplying the pump with enough voltage your amp draw will increase.

any loose or corroded connections will do the same. 16 g wire can handle 15 amps your pump isn't pulling that.

Try this disconnect the water supply from the equipment.

Run the pump in the tub with it basically pumping at zero head.

if you don't blow a fuse its a clue that your trying to get the pump to pump more than it can... the resistance is increasing the draw.. and your fuses are blowing.

I’ll try to answer all in order lol.
Yea my black magic table is running without a fuse. Goes to a battery charger. 2 amp draw.
This pump for the highbanker is 12 amps draw. (I don’t have a charger rated that high, using a kenwood KPS-15 power supply 13.6 voltage out max amps out 25 peak or 23 constant ability)
Few inches of wire around the neg fuse were pretty hot at time of fuse blowing.
Wire from the pump factory installed maybe 14 or 16 gauge.
My wire from power supply to fuse point 12 gauge, crimped barrel connections.
Taped for moisture resistance. Solid connections.
Fused used 15 amp large wedge fuses.
I’ll have to try the 0 head test, will have to run a deeper tub.
I’ll also measure out the current length of the power leads and discharge hose.
I don’t think they are that long on both cases to where it should be a issue.
I’ll post up the measurements.
It was great flow for the 2 min it ran lol!

I’ll have to try and catch the readings at blow.
Unfortunately my meter doesn’t have a capture feature.
But I could try catching the amps and voltage draw at fuse blow.
