Went out and did some scouting along an old creek looking for early pioneer cabins, found this random silver coin in the general vicinity that I keep picking up native artifacts. Hoping someone may have an idea on what it may of been. Smaller than a trime and thinner. Thanks for any information!

Very nice finds fentonian! The native pieces are quite nice. For your little silver coin... I'm feeling stumped... At first I was thinking a very worn half reale. But the diameter of your piece seems too small.... Hopefully someone else will have some ideas.

Feel like maybe its whats left of a coin that was altered

Nice finds coin is a Trime

Great find !
At first I also thought it was a very worn Half Reale but the size is wrong ?
Good luck with the ID !

What is the MM measurement & weight?
It is 12.5 mm (.492”)in diameter and about 1mm thick.. (.021”), as for the weight, I don’t have a scale sensitive enough to weigh but I would guess around .6 of a gram.
Thanks

Well, now that is interesting. I don't think the US ever produced a coin that size. Even a half reale is still 18mm in diameter. Obviously it is quite worn down, so it is hard to say the original size, but probably in the 12-13 mm range. My guess is it is some kind of European/Middle Eastern coin from the late 1600s-1700s. But that is really just a guess. It could even be a blank that was going to be used in counterfeiting.

It may be impossible to ever know what it is, but a UK 1 1/2 pence of William IV and Victoria is about that size.
