Hello

Found this in my sisters yard.Looks like a small vial.If that's what it is . Have no ideal,:dontknow:never dug something like this before.
Let me no if any one has,and is there a way to open this with out damaging it. or should it be left alone? I did shake it and it sounds
like something rattles in side.

Vintage valve stem aka Schrader valve dust cover .....? Quite often confused with a vintage lipstick tube.

I'm more inclined to go with the match holder/lipstick tube over the cover. The valve cover would be hollow, thus no rattle.

An old nitroglycerin container? Could be the pills inside? Most had a place to connect a chain though.

A few more pictures from different angles (top, bottom, sides) would be good.

Soak with knurled end down in WD40 or penetrating fluid and slowly move the nob back and forth until it opens.

I'm in the match safe group...

If soaking it in WD40 or vinegar doesn't do the trick, try heating the outside tube in boiling water to expand it a bit and maybe release the cap. It may take several heating/cooling cycles to get it to break loose. Since it's still a possible match safe, I wouldn't use a flame to heat it. Plus, you may ruin whatever may be inside.

I will try vinegar first.

I will try vinegar first.

Neutralize the vinegar with a baking soda rub, then rinse in water. If nothing else, it will help clean it up nicely!
