I know this is a long shot but I dug this copper coin tonight and I’m pretty sure someone smashed it with a rock long ago. I can just make out some letters on the edge of one side. Posted it here in the off chance someone might be able to ID it. Any help is appreciated.

I think it is a Nova Scotia halfpenny token c. 1832 or so. It is difficult to be sure with the condition. Either the bust of George IV or Victoria (there are other years it could be dated). The position needs to be rotated a bit and I think I can see the nose of the profile on the left.

Neat old copper find! Always interesting to see evidence of Canadian tokens circulating in the US.

Bramblefind I think your right, I could see what looked like NO SCO but couldn’t find anything with those letters. Much appreciated.
