The snow won't stop here in New England, another 7 inches this past week and it has not been warm enough for a complete melt. I went out today any way to the same park I have hit 3 times before this year. There was still about 2 inches of snow on the ground but the digging was easy although my hands were freezing after the first few digs. So I focused on areas that I have not hunted and figured I would just dig some shallow clad to get my fix. Imagine my surprise when I found the first merc at about 2 inches, a beautiful 1916. Three hours of hunting led to a total of 5 silver dimes, all found at 3 inches or less. Very little clad but lots of wheaties and memorials. Just goes to show you have to dig shallow signals.
