So Im going to buy a bazooka

I've been contemplating this for a year now... I've thought about the "miner" model and building a flair for a 4-6" gravity dredge. I've been told it might be to much material to process though... Still curious though.

You could totally do it.
Sounds like you have your winter project! LoL
PS, seahawks will take it again.

if it is to much material to handle , why not use the over under sluice to help classify your material??

I had the same idea passing thru my head last year, and was given some helpful insight on potential issues, naturally the "too much material" concern is one of the biggest...my thoughts are as follows.

1. Angle of the sluice is a major deal when it comes to the steeper the better to clear the grizzlies, and most of us know that the Zooks can run some serious angle.
2. Make sure not to overload the dredge, like with any setup you will need to find the median for ability to process material, as I understand you cant just bury the hose on any dredge, they all have a water to material ratio that helps them to run optimally.
3. I imagine the fluid bed would need to be fed by the water pump off of the dredge, to keep it consistant.

Im sure at this point, however, that there is tons of variables I am not aware of. I have to think that the bazooka would need to be set to be an adjustable angle, for varying conditions, and would need an auxillary ability to clear the griz and slick. One of the fellas I dig with runs a 4" dredge with air and heat in the winter, and he is a bit of a badass. On the dredge that he runs, occasionally tailings pile up at the end of the sluice, but they weigh the end down just enough to slightly change the angle, and clear themselves.

Just my two cents, but I will be buying a 2" backpack dredge later this year, and will try to fabricate the sluice to use my 36" prospector for the sluice, just as a fun project in between trips with the new 4" Dahlke!

Just joined a local club and will be prospecting for the first time very soon. I've ordered the 36" Sniper based on the several threads I've read. Gonna be using my homemade splash block sluice until then :laughing7:

hey let us know how you like it........ I as well have the 36" sniper but I won't have a chance to get it in the water for another couple of months anyway but pics and a vid would be great! Bazooka Porn baby! LOL!

Actually went out today! Obviously I don't have the Bazooka yet, but I picked up a cheapo Brawn sluice with these weird little louvre riffles. Only my first time out to the claim and it took me a while to get back to it, so I only had time to run a single bucket :sadsmiley: I'll get out there again in the next few days and hopefully be able to take my Bazooka

CA GH that's exactly the model you're looking at in my pic!

It's like waiting for christmas, hoping it shows up by the 31st since I'll have a free day to go play!

Might as well take a week :icon_thumright: You will need to break it in properly.

Here is mine begging for another shovel full.

OK, now--show us the gold. I know you always do well, so what did you get?

With that nice dam, you are getting very good water flow, so it was just a matter of dumping material on the Bazooka and let it do it's thing (separate that nice, purty gold from the rest of the rock, dirt, etc.).

Doesn't look like you will be out tomorrow; I drove home tonight in blowing snow. Of course, the Air Force Academy tends to get more than Colorado Springs or Denver (not always more than Denver). So tomorrow here is going to be miserable, probably school delays, 3-5 inches of snow and just an all-round mess. Can't wait to get back in a creek somewhere!!

Only a modest amount that time. But I'll post more on my prospector's journal thread...don't want to hijack this one anymore than I already have lol

Right, but it is encouraging to those who haven't gotten their Bazooka yet to see pictures of it in use--especially in the winter. :)

Quick someone donate a bazooka to me and I will fill this forum with Bazooka porn with my Nikon!

Just talked to Chris at BGT and ordered the 36" heavy weight Prospector with the big grizzlies! Will be in arriving in California on February 7th and will meet Chris to pick it up. So looking forward to getting that into the water!!! My training is over on Feb. 12 so I will be out on the American river and other areas in the Mother Lode after that. I will have 9 days of vacation after the 12th to dig in the dirt! I was hoping to get to the Kanaka Creek area as I'm Hawaiian and wanted to see where the old time Kanakas were finding gold. After looking on the LR2000 system, I can see that most of that area is private claims. Anyone know if there is any open public land in that area? Appreciate any info you might have to share. If anyone wants to get out and do some digging while i'm there shoot me a PM. It would be great to get together with some locals!

When you see Chris, tell him I say hi!

I'm sure we can find a spot for you. I actually have access to another area dug by Islanders!!!!

I find it interesting that this thread is still alive after over a year, & the original poster never did buy a Bazooka due to the cost of shipping!
When it comes to shipping & fuel costs living in Alaska sucks!
