I've done it both ways, but with it, much less damage to a lawn,
smaller hoes, faster recovery - and yes, it's a time-saver...!

when in the woods and i forget it i rough it, now on a permission i never forget it

After a couple tough it outs, I go back for it. it just wastes so much more time with out it. yeah, I can get it done but it can be a real pain in the butt with out the pointer. I can see a beach hunter not needing one as badly but dirt digging, especially in the rocks and roots, it can make a huge difference.

Depends on how far I had to go. These days, I leave one in the car. (Not joking.)

Don't have one, so can't forget it. One less thing to have to remember.

First thing on my belt.

No swiinging without my PP.

My carrot is named American Express

After almost four decades without one,I never forget my carrot now...what was I thinking...:dontknow:

I go to my backpack and pull out my spare.

I take it with me sometimes. Most digs I don't use it. Just grab a handful of dirt and swing it over the loop.

Sunray FX-1 attaches to my detector and I just flip the control switch over to it - like a 1" coil on a probe tube.

Can't loose or forget it and it doesn't need recharging or additional batteries.

one time we just had one pin pointer and the ground was terrible with the rocks and roots. so we took turns with the pointer for a couple of hunts and then my wife told me to order another one....got me a carrot!

Old habits persist for me. Still carry a probe so go back to sticking n flickin. Too set in my ways! Everything in a tote after cleanup ready for next outing.

And if something's missing on my belt it just doesn't feel right, kind of like putting your wallet in the wrong pocket. Something just ain't right. It's an old farts thing............

I have never forgot one yet; one on the belt and and one on the finds bag - double trouble! :icon_thumleft:

the wife left one at a spot one evening, we didn't realize it until the next day and hurried back to look for it. it was lying beside a cut off pine stump where she had rested on so all was well. made her sick though at the though of nearly losing it

I'd go without it, but once I start detecting my gear stays in the truck. So it's just a walk back to truck, not a trip home.

We don't have the time to waste losing or forgetting our pinpointers here is the swamps. Some of us use a lanyard and attach our pin pointer to our metal detector. If your going swinging your all set, never forget.

If you forget your black rubber garden gloves..do you go back or tough it out by actually wiping the mud off coins using your bare hands?

I have never used a carrot but probably would if I had one.

last Time I forgot Mine, I Turned around and Came back home.
Because it was too far to Run again.
I gave up for the day.

same with Headphones, Though Once, I wanted to detect So Bad, Instead of Running Home, I Ran to Walmart.

I forgot my detector at home once.

I also forgot my detector after Hunting once & Drove over it.
Got a mile or so down the road before realizing I had it Propped up against my Car
before I Headed home.

I'm getting Better these days.
I run things through my head over & Over
before I leave
