went back to the high school today man its trashy there but there is some clad there and a few wheats so far , hard to search for rings its so trashy with the low tones , i know theres got to be some rings there cause wife found a ring that read a dime, nice little silver looking thing not sure if its silver or stainless, only markings in it is a j and looks like a spot beside it but might be a v or y or just a spot not sure . anyway it was a $2.63 cent day, no wheats or silver coins today but the ring sure gave the wife a thrill, looks like a tigar eye stone in it also , not a high dollar find but worth more for the thrill then the dollars i'd say, thanks for looking ;)

Man, your wife found a very nice ring. I would say from the looks of it that ring is 14K white gold, with an amber colored tiger-eye gem. Hopefully TheGemologist will chime in and ID the gem based on the visual evidence.

HH and Good Luck.

thanks guys and girls ! i'm thinking silver because it registered as a dime on the detector, white gold may register in the silver range i'm not really sure yet, she has wondered if its some kinda school ring she said some graduating rings differ from the norm these days but i'm not sure about that either ;)

Your ring looks like it’s made from two metals. To me the rosette style setting holding the tiger-eye looks like silver, the band looks like white gold.

Just for kicks, here's a color comparison. The two rings on the bottom are the same silver rings, before and after. You could test it by seeing weather or not it transfers the common black silver tarnish marks we see when cleaning silver. Alloyed gold that have been in the ground for an extended period of time will transfer a black mark, but only on the initial cleaning. Your ring has the luster of gold in my opinion, but I’m not holding it in my hand.

HH

Beautiful ring, congrats. Love the tiger eye stones.
I think they are magnetic (attracted to a magnet).
Very nice, good luck, keep em coming!

thanks modernminer, wifes really excited about finding her first ring, i'm getting a minelab xterra 70 this week and cant wait to see what the ring comes up on it as far as vdi numbers

Love that Tiger Eye! Probably silver if it registered in the dime range. They come out of the ground here pretty untarnished. Way to go!
