Haven't really had much detecting time lately due to other responsibilities but I did manage to get to the Berg with Mirage last week for a short after-work hunt and picked up a nice 1888 IH.
Today I hunted about 8 hrs there alone (no Mother's Day duties for me and everyone else was celebrating) and did pretty well again. The weather was perfect but the woods are growing in so fast that areas that were huntable last fall are quickly becomming overgrown and difficult. Massive spiderwebs are also everywhere I went today (new area) but I am not complaining.
Today I ended up w/4 silver. War nickle, 1928 Merc (real rough) 1951 Rosie and the surprise for the day...a 1919 Canadian silver 5 cent piece, the last year they were .925 (went to .800 in 1920)
That little sucker was tough to find in the pile...the Vibraprobe was not helping much but the DFX kept warbling silver.
I also dug a 1918S wheatie...a decent year. Today I nailed a 1897 IH in great shape! Bunch of other wheats too and a small silver heart w/a cross, and a 18K earring as well. Three pocket knives are from today too.
Also pictured are some bottles and asst silverware from a recent dig with my son Spencer at a local wooded area that was a muster camp before the civil war. Also from there is a 1996 IH and an undated V nickle. The Boy Scout whistle is from the DFX Only hunt at Camp McKinley as are the harmonica and accordian reeds.
