Today I find those objects in english trenches in Salerno area battle (september 1943). Someone know their use? Thanks.

The button looks like a fox on the run, could be a button from a hunting
jacket (civil) ? I would say 19th or early 20th century.

I think you are right on with jerry can items, I have a round cap with "ears"
like the one in your picture it is brass.
