Yesterday I got back to a site I found through research 5 years ago. I noticed last week that the soil had been disked, preparing it for this year’s corn crop. Unfortunately, the non-ferrous finds are now getting slim here, thankfully the pottery and buttons are still ‘turning up’ or in this case, getting ‘turned over’. :laughing7: In 2hrs here, I found an almost complete ink pot, a headless figurine, and the remains of a horse stirrup.

Thanks very much for looking,
Dave

That's a smokin' pot, Dave! I see you also got an early bedrail fastener. Ya dun good for eyeballin'!

Nice looking ink pot. Even with the little chip, its a nice find. Hard to believe it survived all of those years.

Cool ink pot I love finding stuff like that I find alot of pottery frags but never a whole piece YET lol Good job on some nice finds.....Tommy

Thanks creskol, I'm going to have to look up what a bed-rail fastener is.
Can I assume this is a button the bed mattress was sewn together with?

Thank you for your post Trezurehunter.
This is only the third clay pot I've found, although I've found half a dozen glass examples over the years.

Thanks Tommy, this is one of the main reasons why I revisit these sites each year long after they've stopped giving up metal relics.
Best of luck to you Sir,
Dave

Nice!!! Congrats!!!

Thanks Randy.

Thank you Professor, I appreciate your support.
Dave

PS. Here's a pic of the three clay ink pots I've found.

A bed rail fastener is the device that attaches the side boards (rails) to the posts of the head board and footboard. I am thinking this is one of those devices.

Check out this older post: http://www.treasurenet.com/forums/what/398642-horseshoe-like-object.html

Thank you so much for the follow up and for the link to the other post creskol.

Considering how many homestead sites I hunt, I'm surprised I haven't found one of these before.
I'd just assumed it was some type of plow hardware. :laughing7:

Take care buddy,
Dave
