Metal Detecting
My son and I went out on Saturday to a local school by us to do a little md'ing. My son was using my X-Terra 305 and I was using the AT-Pro.

We were only out for about 90 minutes because of the weather, it was getting ready to rain, but we found some clad, nothing really to talk about.

But then when we were about to leave, my son got a hit on the X-Terra and decided to dig it up before we left. Well after digging the plug and
using the Pro Pointer, he pulled out the hole a 1924S Wheaty! The back was toasted, but he was so excited, I think I just might have gotten him hooked! Now I have to
get him his own Pro Pointer so he doesn't have to barrow mine all the time when we are out. Might be a good present for the boys birthday.

Here are some pictures of it, these were taken by my new toy that I just got today a USB Microscope, its pretty cool and I really like it a lot for looking
at coins. My eyes are going and the 5x magnifying glass that I had just was not working and plus I am able to take pictures with it as well, so it works out
well. I have included some pictures of it also if anyone wants to check it out and some test photo's to.

Here are some test pictures I took with my new USB microscope, plus the above pictures as well

and finally here is the unit itself

Anyways take care all and HH!

Oh nice, i just ordered that scope today. How you like it? Congrats to your son too!

Thanks Bejamble.

The scope is really cool, I like it a lot! I originally purchase this one and ended up returning it within 15 minutes of use and purchased the one that I have now/the one you are getting.

The difference in the two scopes is night and day. The first one was all plastic and the new one is made out of all metal. My first one felt really rink-dinky, the new one is super solid.

I think you will like it a lot, here is another test picture of lincoln inside the lincoln memorial on the back of a penny I was messing around with.

Pretty awesome, huh?

It is awesome that you have a fun hobby with your son and he got a nice wheat cent. I also like that USB microscope. Do you think it would work well on buttons and indian artifacts? Really good pictures and a nice hunt to boot!

Thanks TnMtns.

Funny you ask about that, so I was messing around with a button also and a pin I had found. Although my button is a little jacked up, maybe you could tell me a little about it?

I did put it under the scope and took a picture so you can see the quality. I did not sped a lot of time trying to get the best picture, but you can see what it looks like just the same, I don't
think it looks that bad and could definitely get up a lot closer to see more detail if I wanted to, but just didn't have the time tonight.

That scope takes fantastic pics. Can you tell us more about the make and model?

Thanks.

I say Girl Scout badge and a very early one is my guess. See what you think? Oh I see another attachment trying to open it. Hang on

Thats great, best of luck...HH

Thanks, I will check it out!

Hi S.Tan,

Definitely, you can find it here on amazon, it has all the specs and a lot of good reviews. Let me know if you have any other questions about it.

Sounds like your son will now have the detecting bug like the rest of us. Better get him that pin pointer pronto. It's nice to share the hobby with family.

Thanks, Ben. Looks like it would be great to use in the science classroom. I'll definitely check it out! Keep those finds coming! Good luck!

Nice that you can hunt with your son, my boy lost interest after he figured out he was not going to get rich quick. He is twenty, it was fun while it lasted, few really good memories of high fiveing and hugging each other when we found a few silvers together. That scope is cool, I might have to splurge on one of those.

Wonder if I can return mine :) That is a great price.

Although I just took a closer look at this one and it appears to be different, the box is not the same as the one that mine came in and mine does not have the graphics on the scope, magnification marks, etc.
Mine came in a white box, that had a sleeve on it and then when you opened the box the scope was lying in a nice enclosure that you can actually put the scope back in when you are not using it, although I leave mine on my desk, I think it would be more of a pain to take it apart and put it back together every time I wanted to use it.

So I don't know the quality of this scope versus the one I purchased, although they do look very similar.
