Try looking at sandy beach and makapu,both are body surfing areas,tourists lose all kinds of stuff in the water since the waves are so big and rip everything from your body including bathing suits.I found lots of goodies there,on the beach and in the water and also out past where the waves break.Theres a area out there where everything ends up.Go on a flat day.Of course this was in 1975 when i was there,im from kailua,oahu.

you can get to that stage, not another wedding band, Iv'e been there, but it's all gold and it adds up.

I worked the beaches of Oahu for nearly ten years and a one gold ring day was very bad if you had put in the time. That being said I would nearly kill for one gold ring days now. If you study the wind, tide and swell action you can predict the cut to Sandy and Makapu. As I recall the winter storms in the south Pacific built huge swells add that to the wind and high high tide you get beach cuts that you work while they are happening.
When I was there in the 1980's the was a Huyngh (sp) family that had figured it out many years ago. They didn't use detectors. They would kneel on the wet sand back toward the ocean. Using their hands they would dig a hole in the wet sand. As a wave crashed over their backs it would wash items into their holes. They would shove their hands into the filled up hole feeling for rings and chains. Then dig out the hole before the next wave and repeat till end of the action. I was told that you could go to Sandy during a cut and watch coins jump up on edge and roll to the ocean. I WATCHED it happen. You have to be available to hit the beach at any hour. We would go sometimes at 2 or even 3 in the morning. It was worth it and a lot of fun. Be careful at night at Sandy a couple of my friends got jumped there. There jumpers didn't see the other detector guy behind them with a stainless steel scoop. lol

Thanks for all the advice, I have many spots I hit on a continual basis and for the most part they produce gold and the amount of CLAD I have is unreal (I've lived here for 17 years, MD for 13). That being said there are several beaches I never hit based on the wave action, the drop off or other very agressive detectors. I'm not a big dry sand guy I like to do all my hunting in the water. I used to hunt Hanamua Bay exclusively years ago and pulled 7 gold out in one 4 hr hunt one time but the place has been off limits to detectors for years. I'm leaving the island next year when I retire heading to the east coast so I will have to get used to an environment that may not be as target rich as Oahu.

You guys are killing me.
I am a total noob, but I put 20 hours on my Excalibur II this last week...up and down Waikiki, mostly in the water. This is total proof that it is not about the detetcor (I hope) but experience, as I have zero gold to show for my time and about 5 bucks in CLAD....
It was fun though!

How are you conducting your search? You need to do a grid search i.e pick a piece of the beach (lets say in front of the Hilton Hawaiian Village) and start at the wet sand and work your way to chest deep make it a methodic search. Keep in mind you need to study the tide charts, make sure its not jelly fish time, as it was the last few days. The 14K Band I posted here came from in front of the Royal Hawaiian (no secret spot there) I was in the water at 0530 and out an hour later cause the wifey had to work this weekend. The rings are there but there are so many detectors on the strip it boils down to luck (timing) I get a gold ring 9 out of 10 times I go out. I spend 4-5 hours in the water and haul out lots of trash and CLAD (which I don't post because it belongs in the trash can not here on my post) but belive me brother you have a good machine the rings WILL come ( I have a shoebox full of silver and a handful of gold this year to prove it).

I did end up at some point in front of the Royal Hawaiian, but the wave action seemed to not want to cooperate (saturday around noon), so I just picked a "lane" about chest deep and kept heading east.....spent some good amount of time in front of the lagoon thingy by the marriot...and got....60 cents (lol)
I combed the front of the Hilton Hawaiian like there is no tomorrow....and a guy came up to me and said he lost his ring (go figure)....even told me about where it was .... couldn't find it (lol).
I burried my band at the beach, and my detector does pick it up just fine (4" or so).....like I said...prolly all just lack of experience. Going TDY for the week, but will for sure hit the beaches again next weekend. I am (used to?) be a scuba addict...and this is seriously starting to cut into my scuba time...I didn't think I would ever find anything that could keep my attention like scuba....but this is just a blast.
I did find this thing in about 6" in the wet sand....my wife says it's junk and is part of a necklace u can buy for 3 bucks at the NEX....It's about half the size of a normal looking ring...and has SV stamped on the side of it (again I am clueless about these things).
Since most guys are using PI machines around here and not EXCALS (BBS/VLF) I wonder if that is making a difference....(afterall they prolly know what they are doing).

I used a Pulse PI for 13 years and loved it, but it finally got water in the control box and instead of sending it to WHITES and having it repaired, the wife talked me into spending some $$$$ and getting the BHID 300, a few hundred bucks more than a replacement PI but ya know what... that red light comes in handy and if I don't feel like digging a penny I can pass it up as a penny, dime, Qtr and nickle all have distinctive tones. I don't use the DISC mode as it has too many false signals for my simplistic brain so I roll in all metal. Hope to see you down on the strip sometime and if you put the time in the water you will find GOLD, ya just have to beat all those 24/7 cats who own the beach, I think the only time I find something is when they take a nap. Good luck brother.

you are cleaning up on rings.
I haven't got a beach fix in a few weeks (I have got in a couple relic hunts) but I miss the gold. I am glad someone is still finding stuff.
