I found this point in Southwest NM. I am not sure that I have seen another that it different colored as this one.

Pretty unique but not real uncommon for them to use the cortex at the end of the base. It was cracked out of a round solid sphere that was covered in that end material.The chert was inside it. Neat one for your collection. My bet it was a small spall or nodule and once cracked open was enough to produce maybe one or two good tools by incorporating the cortex as the base.
