My best day in a long time. Those of you who have hunted with me may remember that I constantly whine about never finding any KG coins. I’ve seen dozens pulled... but never had the luck myself. Today was the day. We hiked into a new site and it turned into a pretty epic haul. First was the 1797 Draped. Then, down by the water I got the Civil War token (my first). After a while I got a a screaming 28-29 on the Nox and got the 1768 2 Reale...(first 2R, second Spanish)....8” over I dug the KG (my first)It is a KGII - I believe it’s 1749. Got 3 little pistol musket balls and a couple buttons as well. Covered a little over 10miles on the Fitbit in about 7 hours. Thanks for viewing and HH. Well done! Those 2 Rs are not easy to find....especially that style. When you put in the hard work you’re normally rewarded with some great stuff. That hike was worth every step

Very nice! I love that 2 Reales coin!

Steve

Wow, gotta love that! I love the details on the 2R and you have to be happy that it's a pillar variety. Maybe someday I'll get lucky and find one of the 10 Spanish Reales hiding in Washington State lol.

Wow! What a successful hunt. Getting a 7 miles in hiking through the woods and streams is a bonus in my book, unless lots of briars, mud and bugs. I’d love to see the coins cleaned up a bit if you plan on working them a bit more. Congrats!!!!

I’m nervous about attempting any further cleaning on the coppers. I was lucky they were right on a creek, with oak and birch trees around (no pines). They were a little flakey and almost did peroxide... but was worried it would be too much. I’m happy with 4 dated coins... 3 from the 1700s.

Thanks! The site had been hit before... metal strewn all around the cellar walls. Whoever was there neglected to wall the 20 yards down to the river where there was an old saw mill site. Coins were not real deep and screamed on the Nox. That’s why I always walk the river/stream edge!! GL & HH
