Spoon Maker ID.

Anyone out there have any idea on the WR Clapp& Bro mark on the back of a spoon? What years these might have been made? I can't seem to locate anything. I will try to post a pic of it soon. It is getting a cleaning now. It came from a farm site that dates 1880's. Thanks. jgas

Is the spoon silver? That'll help everyone narrow the search...

By a Google search, I find that W R Clapp ran a brass foundry in Northampton, Mass. in 1840. This might or might not be the right W R Clapp.

The spoon is made of copper. Pretty flimsy spoon part with a stiffer handle if that helps in any Id. Thanks for the replies guys....jgas
