Starlink 10-27 Rocket Launch 9/21/25

On way to gym this morning this is what greeted me in my front yard when I walked out the door.

I watched John Glenn on the first US man flight into space the same way, while on gym field playing flag football in Junior High.

First stage starts to drop, looks like star at bottom right of rocket.

You can see the first stage as it falls back for landing at the 4 o-clock position from rocket

Very cool...

When I was a kid growing up in So. Cal., we'd often see the contrails left by rockets
(of some type) that were taking off from Vandenberg AFB.

Thank you, Elon for Starlink. I live where cell towers are too far to give a reliable signal, and no cable or landline company offers any service. Traditional satellite service was an expensive joke. Then along came Musk to lead us, and all the others like us out of the digital dessert. All those many millions of tax dollars provided by the states and feds we all paid have gone mostly to add multiple services in the larger metro areas and nothing to the rural folks. What a taxpayer rip-off that turned out to be.

By the way, I have been using Starlink since their beta days. Back when everyone said his plan was ridiculous and was bound to fail. Just imagine if someone with his vision was running NASA.

Awesome. We're in the Space race too down here. Our recent effort managed to get several feet off of the ground before it self destructed.
I hear Nasa is sending us a participation medal for trying! 🥰

When I was a kid it never failed. All the first NASA launches were on Sat morning. My favorite cartoon shows were preempted for the launch. My dad would come in and tell me how important it was. I wasn’t very impressed.🤣
