Since all the fields are full of crops, and it's just been to freakin' hot to hunt anyway, I just don't have much to show as far as new finds so I thought I'd post some pictures of some Stone Tools I have. Some of these are personal finds and some are things I have bought or traded for. I hope you all enjoy the pictures and if you have any Stone Tools you would like to share please feel free to post your pictures so we can all see them.

Great show!-----------The last picture to the left of the pitted stones--there is a long stone and a bunch of matching funky colored rocks. I think one may be a net sinker but what is that long one and the others?-just curious.

unitas and naturegirl, the large oblong piece is actually just a Pitted Stone. If look real close you can see the 2 pits on the top. It is pecked all around and has been worked into that shape. It's made from Limonite, which is similar to Hematite but not as dense or heavy. Where Hematite is a dense stone and very solid all the way through, Limonite has a soft inner core surrounded by the very dense stone on the outside.

The pieces to the left of that are all Stone Hoes used to dig and till the earth, even the one with the notches.(it's not a sinker weight) These are very common in my area and are made from a stone called Waverly Sandstone.

Good topic SRV, and nice looking hardstone. I gotta say your personal find axe(insitu) and chisel are my favorites, they're both really nice examples.

That's called a plummet , or net sinker. They were tied onto fishing nets as weights. That one is made of hematite.
