Stop Marking Coins!!!

This is a plea to everyone out there who feels the need to mark their searched coins. STOP!! There is nothing more annoying than finding a coin that you could really use for a folder only to find some j@ck@$$ has put a gigantic sharpie mark on it. To whomever ruined a perfectly good 1987-P Half Dollar that I needed to complete my folder, You Suck!! Seriously people, there is no reason to mark the coins you search. Let's finally put an end to this.

I found something even worse a 1987 Proof clad half that some p of s had scratched the living crap out of with a knife. Had it not been destroyed I would have happily kept it. At least sharpie marks can be cleaned off with alcohol

True story, my GF told her father how much silver I have found buying silver and he decided to go ahead and start ordering halves at the same bank as me. Turns out, they gave him my dumps and after complaining about how many "marked coins" he found, decided to stop doing it. If it hadn't been for that, the box I got 40 silvers in last week could have been his. And for someone needing a coin for their books, there are plently of them out there.

+1, You have to remember GSS that those coins aren't "yours" to mark and the silver isn't yours either. Everyone has a fair shot at this. Quit defacing our money..

Also not a fan of marked coins. It just seems like a big waste of time and it screams arrogance to me for some reason. Does marking coins really save you any time finding silver? Or is just for giggles to see if you get own coins back? Either way it doesn't increase chances any, especially if your doing boxes.

How am I ruining it for others? Whether or not I mark the edge of a coin does not improve or hinder your chance of finding silver. And I already stated that by date checking I don't mark proof or NIFC halves.

Because If "everyone" were doing it, it wouldnt be worth doing for very much longer. You can say whatever you want, but the more people who do this, the less silver you will find. (seems obvious). It will get to a point, that the amount of new people doing this, will no longer be outweighed by the amount of silver making its way back into the wild.

As far as the marking coins dilemma... who gives a sh*t. Everyone should quit crying about what others are doing, so you found a marked keeper, and you didnt want it. Wow, keep CRH'ing, and find another one-that isnt marked.

And while I'm at it.... I cant say there are very many things about what other people do that really get me... CRH'ing videos on youtube make me want to water-board the retards who put them there-until they drown. My god, is there anything that makes less sense than telling the world about one of the very few "lucrative" hobbies out there? I cant think of anything that could possibly ruin this hobby for everyone faster than posting videos on youtube, and other places online where hundreds or thousands of people every day can unkwnowingly "stumble" onto their new favorite hobby, just because some saint feels like sharing the best hobby ever with all the sheep. I'm glad it makes them feel better, like they are doing the world a favor or something..... F'ing Idiots. Quit posting CRH'ing videos online.

If someone wants to mark coins I can't stop them but, I don't like it.
I don't see how it helps a CRHer, it certainly doesn't help someone looking for to complete their CuNi collection. Like many others on this forum I have seen coins in excellent condition (AU50-MS60) marked and now useless. Even if the coin's condition is poor, you are still defacing something the you ultimately don't intend on keeping.
There have been a lot of posts asking, how to find the most keepers. Which banks, armored car services, CWR vs MWR etc
Marking coins doesn't help any more than any of those newbie questions. Time, money, volume multiple banks and of course LUCK.

I see TONS of marked coins in all of my boxes. I don't really care about marking them with one exception. The idiots that like to color the edges silver, I must have gotten 50+ in one of my boxes last week.

It's the greedy, selfish, arrogant attitudes like this that really make me sick. I'd hope the majority of people who coin roll hunt are not like this, but I'm beginning to wonder. TheRockDoc and GimmeSomeSilver you both were "new" to this at one point. You didn't invent this hobby. You weren't the first ones to the party. But yet now that you are involved in it, somehow you both have the attitude that you should be the only ones doing it. For some selfish reason you both are the only ones who can enjoy it. The rest of us are just taking all your silver away. You both don't make the hobby any more fun, because for people like you both, it isn't a hobby. It's a selfish, self-centered compulsion.

I look at some of the big finds that people post on here, and it makes we want to search more. I watch some of the videos on youtube and it makes me want to search more. Then I look at how people like you two act, and it is just repulsive to me. Honestly, it make me hope that you get flooded in your area with more and more coin roll hunters. We all were "new" to this at one point, and I'm sure there were others that wanted us out out the way so they could be greedy and selfish. Now that the shoe is on the other foot, does that make it OK for you both to continue the same behavior? You're not the only ones out there, and you never will be. Respect and Courtesy shouldn't be forgotten.

Just drop it. We all know the real reason you made this topic is that you are raging because you haven't found silver in ages due to all those "marked coins". To be honest, 50% of all the coins I go through are marked...probably a good 5 different marks, so you're not the only one...get over it.
