Strange digs today

I was on my way downtown today when i saw a old shot gun house just removed from its foundation .I always like to hit these spots,never know what was there before them...Nothing that old, but did find some strange junk Got my treasure fix anyway..... Relic

What does the tag in the middle say? Looks like some of those miners tags I find around here.

hey nana,i think its a room key tag for the continental hotel.I didnt think it was that old,but the old map i have is from 1860 so i guess it is old.Thanks civilman1.I love to hunt and find all kinds of junk,somedays just are better then others

Relic....hang on to that tag with the word "Continental" on it. I'm almost 100% sure that may be a room key tag to the old Continental Hotel (see pic below). It was built in the 1870's and torn down around the turn of the century.

That thing is strange its made from a oyster shell.When you touch it the white shell stuff comes off on your fingers.Homemade poor mans button

Relic, even though you didn't excavate any Spanish cobs or cut pieces, you still were able to get out and save some history. Are they the Sanborn Insurance Maps? I downloaded a bunch of them from the 1880's. They are definitely useful. Now if we could only find some for our podunk river target, we'll really be in business .

That ceramic bird looks like a "pie bird". They are sealed into pie crust on top of a pie, and whistle when steam is released through them to vent the pie. My sister has a large collection of them, and they are very collectible, and some can be quite valuable.
