strange mineral-Scotland

Would you be able to have a look at this pictures and help me to identify this strange mineral.

Seems to be quartz or chalcedony.

I find rocks like that all the time, almost always under my feet here in Connecticut- actually spent a good amount of my day today looking up rhodonite, quartz, and chalcedony.
